October Wrap-Up and NaNoWriMo Pre-Launch

Oh wow, oh wow, oh wow. October has been one crazy month but 2016 has been full of crazy, so it's pretty much par for course. We started the month still in the hotel and scraping the barrel for hope that we'd go home soon. I didn't want to be moving boxes and unpacking on my birthday or spending Halloween in the hotel. One of those things came true, and it wasn't my birthday wish.

All my bags are packed
Moving back in was surprisingly easy despite our overloaded hotel suites. The real issue was that 80% of the house was still in boxes. Probably about 50% is still in boxes now. It's like we're moving in to a different house in the same location and with 16 years worth of crap. While it's nice that a lot of fixtures are new again and repaired, many spaces are quite a bit smaller. Every box we open is a combination of "Why in the hell do we still have that" and "Now where in the hell are gonna put this". Between seeing what I needed/used at the hotel and looking at a house full of stuff with new eyes, I'm gaining an appreciation for letting go, reusing old things in new spaces, and reducing new purchases.

Welcome home?

As the month ends, even though all of October wasn't what I wanted and there's still a lot of work ahead, I'm truly glad to be back home. Just in time for NaNoWriMo!

Yes, I'm participating in National Novel Writing Month again this year and apparently it's my tenth year. Woo-hoo! In the nine years previous, I've worked on eight novels, completed two within the NaNoWriMo timeframe, completed another two since, I'm still working on one of them, and two of them I'm still considering completing. I've only abandoned one novel completely. Meanwhile, I participated in my first NaNoWriMo in 2006 but I didn't have my first win until NaNoWriMo 2012. All of this is to say that even if you've started before and failed, tried multiple times and failed, there's nothing to  say that you can't try again and maybe even succeed this time. If you've got an idea for a novel or have always wanted to try writing, go ahead and sign up. We can be buddies!

Additionally, I plan to post my project online just like The Horrorphiles from NaNoWriMo 2015. Also, just like last year, there will be a seven day delay in postings. There are several reasons for this, which you can read about here. Having said that, I will still be posting everyday starting tomorrow, November 1st, with my tips, tricks, and inspirations for NANoWriMo in general.

Make sure you don't miss a thing throughout this action packed month! Follow me in AAAALLLLL the places!!
